          From the Coordinator’s Desk!

Greetings!
Our environment is stressed with the problem of pollution which is getting worse as the days pass. Our lifestyle has been improved tremendously and rapidly along with unplanned and unsustainable patterns of development leaving our environment susceptible to hazards caused during the process. Though we cope up problems with solutions through technologies we still are not able to revert things back to normal. Air pollution is a key problem in degradation of environment by increasing the concentration of gases and suspended particulate matters into the atmosphere. Unlikely, there is no system developed at present to eliminate pollution in air. World health organization (WHO) has estimated 800,000 people to die annually worldwide due to air pollution. The world Environment Day 2019 was themed “Beat Air Pollution” to spread awareness on the issue. Steps should be taken from each and every individual to improve the quality of our environment as a simple growth in personalized transportation contributes to the degradation of air quality.
The present issue focus on air pollution with a review on haze in Chennai that discuss about the recent air quality in the city along with various reports on Scientists declaring climate emergency establishing global indicators for effective action, how aspirin may halve air pollution harms, risk analysis to power air pollution solutions, untangling links between components of hazy air pollution and many more.
